A Message from our Artistic Director

photo of KQFor the first time in 38 years, there is no first day rehearsal for Magic Moments. This is kind of a sad day, filled with a sense of loss, or maybe nostalgia, or anger at the universe, or many other emotions.

But, it could also be a time for reflection, a time to deepen our friendships in other ways thru our MM associations. We can bring renewed energy, renewed commitment, renewed passion for what we love. We have the chance to find new ideas, songs, dances, new ways of doing what we love. We can use all of this to reinforce the idea that all of us are one and the same regardless of our various and different attribute, talents etc. and show the world that this is not just an idea but is a livable reality.

I miss you all and look forward to many more years of “United we stand, united we fall, let’s make this show the best of all! Give ‘em hell!!”

Break-a-leg,
KQ

The State of the Union, Magic Moments Style

Hello Magic Moments community! I know this is probably a long time coming, but first and foremost I wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to our community at large for their tremendous support during these unprecedented times! The continued support we have shown each other through social media and other forms of communication has been great. Not knowing exactly what the future holds, I felt now would be a good time to let everyone know the state of Magic Moments and how we are planning to weather the storm.

As of this writing, Magic Moments is still a solvent and operating Non-Profit business. While we do have some cash reserves, not being able to have performances last year severely impacted our bottom line. We were blessed by many contributions of ticket sales that helped keep things going. It is doubtful that a show will be possible this year, but the board is looking into other events that can keep our community together and active. More on that will follow as plans solidify.

In the meantime, the best thing we can do is stay positive, stay in touch, and do our best to keep going until we get through this epic pandemic that has been felt especially in the arts community. Fundraising will be the best thing we can do to be sure we are in a good financial position once things turn around. If you have any suggestions or ideas please let us know, talk to your companies about sponsorship, or maybe discuss gifting within your families. According to Philanthropy News Digest about a third of nonprofits are expected to close within the year, we will work hard not to be in that category!

Much love to you all and hope to see you soon!
